My interest in sourdough was born in July 2013 while visiting friends on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington. Bill Woolf is a sourdough cook, and when he turned out stacks of delicious, golden sourdough waffles, I was hooked.

I never cared for sourdough; my only experience with the stuff was the bitter “airport” sourdough my mother would bring home whenever she was visiting in San Francisco.
